Moving west of the city of Chania one can see a continuous 12 kilometer beach. Small bays, clear water, well-organized and blue-flag verified beaches make this area one of the main tourist outlets of the prefecture. Villages of Platanias, Agia Marina, Stalos, Daratso, Galatas all create a complete tourist unit in which one can find aproximately 15.500 beds, 600 tourist markets and super-markets, 90 traditional cretan taverns and restaurants, 4 banks and a post office.
