In this region lie two of the most beautiful beaches not only of Crete, but also of the whole Europe! The first is Falassarna, a beach that was voted last year as the best beach of Greece. The second one is Mpalos, which lies at the chersonese of Gramvousa, and is an extraordinary landscape. It is worthwhile then, to visit those beaches and enjoy their crystal clear water. Also, in this region lies the port of Kasteli Kissamou, from where depart several boats (to Gramvousa and otherwhere). Finally, there is a 2nd World War German cemetery at Maleme, as you can also visit Kolympari, to eat in one of the local fish taverns.
