Modern Hania encircles the old town in every direction, having as well parts that are worth the walk. For example, starting from of the market (perhaps the border between the old and the new town) and following Papandreou street you get to the Public Garden, which has a few caged animals (not really enough to call a zoo, but there are kri-kri, ponies, loud monkeys and birds). Right across is the national stadium of Chania. In the town center one can find all kind of shops. Moreover there are almost all the public services buildings of the city, as well as the muncipality office. However between those buildings there are many little squears with trees and fountains, contributing in their own way to the beauty of the city.
